We’re officially in the homestretch – one week away from the final day (of the summer vacation).

Goddammit! I am both pissed and excited.

The speedrun for the summer homework has started. I’ve planned for myself to complete a fair amount of homework in the morning, then it’s just an ordinary lazy day from the afternoon onwards. Hopefully the approach works. Thankfully, this is the second-last time I have to deal with middle school’s summer homework. Sometimes, I wish the suffering would just end…

The duration of our summer vacation? 25 days. Which is much shorter than a typical summer holiday – maybe even of a busy high-schooler’s. People often dismiss the issue, saying that “you’ve already had your summer vacation during March”. But that’s just showing you have no fidelity in your mind.

What’s the purpose of a summer vacation? Vacation. You’re not supposed to touch academics (at least not too much). You’re supposed to take a loooong break. It’s the year-end, after all. Our special vacation did not achieve any of that. No vacation was possible because of the dire pandemic situation. And it’s not like the academic year immediately terminated – we’ve still got exams afterwards. Worst of all? This vacation was intended to vacate campuses, so that city-wide testing could take place. That never happened. What the fuck. The government just shat on us students. WHY?????

I don’t blame schools for providing us with shorter-than-average summer vacations. It was a forced decision, otherwise the following school year wouldn’t start in time, leading to serious consequences. I blame the government. Fuck them. If you at least did your shitty mandatory testing, then I wouldn’t be as mad. And you didn’t. You played us like absolute fools. Fuck you.

If you’d excuse me, I’m off to playing some shooters to release my anger, then let reality slap my stupid face the coming morning. I still have work to do. Fuck.
