Anson's Random Dumps #15

You thought the drama was over? No, I still have a ton to write for tonight. Too much.

Right now, you are probably writing to other people and showing gratitude to them. I don’t know whether your addressees would do the same thing to you (they probably would – have faith in them).

But, I do know I want to write to you. So I’ll be the first idiot to write back to you. This is personal.

I know you’d probably appreciate a piece of Chinese writing more, but forgive me – I’m illiterate in that. I can write much better in English at least imo

Ethan, this entry is dedicated to you.

My friend. My mentor. My teacher. My player 2 (or player 69420 depends on how you see it).

God you’ve grown so much. We all did. Where shall I start…

Yeah, remember when we met? We were Minecraft YouTubers. To be honest, I forgot exactly who introduced us to each other, but either way, we knew one another.

You were my player 2. The days when we built in Minecraft were fun. We were still little kids back then, but you still used the best of your ability to give us Minecraft players a nice place to chill in. The city. You were born a leader.

Things were like this until I entered secondary school. Out of economical reasons, I chose to take the Er Hu course for our school’s compulsory musical lessons (or whatever that thing is called I don’t care). And then I still fondly remember. We were randomly talking about something, until I mentioned the Er Hu.

That, was a pivotal moment. Firstly, you were shocked. And happy. To see a fellow Er Hu player. And then you offered to teach me Er Hu.

To be honest, at that time, I was quite uninterested in music. To me, it felt like a necessity only. And sure, a “banger” is a “banger”, but that’s all. But you slowly lit up the fire in my heart. The heart to like music. And thus, I was thrown into a bottomless pit, named Music. You were my catalyst.

You were a good friend. Thank you for being my mentor, at my bluest moments in the little Minecraft YouTuber circle we had. Thank you, from the deepest of my heart.

As your student, as your friend, I could say – without exaggeration – today I felt extremely proud of you. The moment when I saw your name in the concert’s rundown? I knew you were no joke. Getting your school’s orchestra to play your own composition is no joke. But you did it. Well done.

I really enjoyed seeing you conduct. It reminded me of the game The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker. In this game, the hero, Link, gets a magical baton, called the Wind Waker, that grants him superpowers when he swings in a certain way. (Picture attached below)

Link with the Wind Waker

I could really see it – you immersed in the piece, and you really became the only one of your own world, as your saying goes.

Your conductor’s baton also grants you superpowers. It allows you to show your music – in the way you wish it to be – to an audience. Playing your own composition to public is an extremely rare opportunity. I am really glad that your school gave you so many chances to excel. And you took ‘em.

You were really a high achiever. You taught me how to strive for the best. When I said your name to the receptionist at the counter (they asked for it), I saw them shiver(?) for a little bit. This is how far you’ve come. You’ve made a name of your own. Without you, I doubt that I’d have my name called out 6 times at an awards ceremony. Thank you.

Ok the paragraphs above were all quite random so I’ll try to write better here

Dear my friend, when you happen to conduct an orchestra again, try to notice where your baton is pointing at the upbeat. That’s right. Skyward. That’s where you’re headed for. And I quote entry #9, “if you keep on building that tower skyward, one day you will reach the skies.” Keep building up that tower. Don’t look down. And if you one day struggle to build the tower, look around you. Your friends and family are standing on the construction platform, rooting for you. And I’m one of them.

You said, that you wanted to inherit to the next generation. My mentor, I hope I can make you proud one day… Although I end up disappointing most of the time.

Life is like a skill tree. Your time becomes skill points. If you want to get better at something, you better invest some skill points into it. I hope to strive for the best in my pursuit of the art of musical composition. Please have faith in me. I am going to invest a lot of skill points into it.

Anyways, this entry could be summarized in two words, thank you. You are my mentor. My good friend. My player 2 in Minecraft. But of utmost importance, you are my player 2 in life. And I hope I can share the same role in your life.

Ain’t this what friends are for? Being a companion, and a mentor. As the Chinese saying goes, 取長補短. From the bottom of my heart, I thank you for being my mentor. (Okay I’ll stop mentioning “mentor”) And in return, I will do everything I can to help you. Don’t hesitate to hit me up – I’ll be there.

And in conclusion, thank you for everything, and I hope we can be good friends for eternity.

This wasn’t phrased too well, maybe because of midnight again. Maybe I’ll rewrite this soon…

P.S. I didn’t rewrite it.

Anson
